Thanks to Jamie Pressly Web for the heads-up! From SheKnows.com:
For 19 years (can you believe it), NBC has been clueing us in with their “The More You Know” public service campaign. These short ads are based on the idea that you’ll listen if your favorite star tells you to do it and I think it works. We’ve been told how to listen to our kids, find missing children and thank a teacher.
This year, the stars are going green with a new season of PSA’s starring some of NBC’s hottest talents. This year, “The More You Know” family has expanded to include top cable talent: Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, USA), Tim Gunn (Project Runway and Guide To Style, Bravo), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, SciFi) and María Celeste (Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste, Telemundo).
This year’s campaign focuses on issues such as pollution, global warming, and recycling. In addition to eco-awareness, the campaign continues to address important issues such as diversity, drinking and driving and Internet safety. So don’t skip the commercials or you may miss your favorite star telling you that it is really easy to be green.
Check out our screen captures of Tricia’s NBC “Green is Universal” commercial from last year, in which she tells us how easy it is to switch off the lights when you leave the room.
Canadian actress and former model Tricia Helfer is one of Hollywood’s rising acting talents, best known for her portrayal of humanoid Cylon Number Six on Sci Fi’s critically acclaimed drama series Battlestar Galactica. She recently joined the cast of USA Network’s Burn Notice as well as landed a talent holding deal with Fox. Helfer is also an active animal rights supporter.
