Canadian actress and former model Tricia Helfer is one of Hollywood's rising acting talents, best known for her portrayal of the humanoid Cylon Number Six on Syfy's critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica. More recently, Helfer has starred in e.g. Andrew Paquin’s Open House and appeared as Alex Clark on NBC's The Firm. Helfer is also an active benefactor of animal rights and environmental causes.

Join us Wednesday August 4 at 2/1c to chat live with Dark Blue stars Dylan McDermott and Tricia Helfer.
Check out also this sneak peek from the two-hour season premiere from the Dark Blue website. Although Tricia is only featured in the opening glimpses, it’s nevertheless a taste of things to come:
According to the Late Night TV Page, Tricia Helfer is scheduled to appear on TBS’Lopez Tonight on Monday, August 2. Sounds like the promotion for Dark Blue Season 2 is finally getting started! As always, we’ll be doing our best to cover Tricia’s appearance on the show.
Check out this photographed preview of Tricia Helfer on the cover of the Mexican men’s magazine, Deep, issue July 2010. The cover shot originates from the earlier of Tricia’s two smouldering Maximphotoshoots from last year. We’re unable to get this magazine where we are, though, so if anyone would like to share their scans with us, please do so as it would be most appreciated! Thank you.
Have a look at this very encouraging and positive review from The Huffington Post of Dark Blue‘s upcoming second season and Tricia Helfer’s debut on the show. Both Tricia and the show gets a big ‘thumbs-up’ from the publication’s film critic Jackie K. Cooper (who, it’s worth noting, disliked Season 1), which is of course very reassuring news to the rest of us. The full review under the cut.
When the Dylan McDermott TV series Dark Blue premiered on TNT last year it became my least favorite show of the network’s offerings. The Closer, Hawthorne, Leverage; they all were better and more entertaining. Dark Blue was too dark in its story of undercover cops. It also seemed to waste the talent and charisma of McDermott. Plus the supporting cast seemed to be struggling to find the heart and soul of their characters. In short nothing worked.
What a difference a year makes. The show is coming back and it is coming back like gangbusters. The actual look of the show seems brighter; the supporting cast seems more assured; best of all McDermott has found his mojo. He now exudes sex appeal and all it took was a little helper named Helfer. Yes Tricia Helfer has joined the cast and she is the missing ingredient. Around her, McDermott’s character, Carter Shaw, has blossomed.
Helfer plays FBI Agent Alex Rice and she is the kick the series has needed. She arrives on the scene as a take hold kind of girl and Shaw’s heart raises the white flag. There is steam surrounding these two whenever they are in the same scene.
Check out the third Q & A video clip from Tricia Helfer’s official site, in which Tricia answers a couple of fan questions, as submitted to her via her official site / asktricia[@]triciahelfer.com. In this clip, Tricia talks about how she chooses her roles and what attracts her to a character, and how TriciaGreen.com, i.e. her off-the-grid summer house in Alberta, Canada is coming along. Be sure to check out Part 1 and Part 2 as well. Courtesy of TriciaHelfer.com:
Have a look at this very insightful TV Tango interview with Tricia Helfer regarding her new Dark Blue gig. The article sheds a lot of new light on e.g. how she got involved in the series, what it’s been like working on the show, what the prospects are for her character in her debut season and whether she’ll be returning for another season should TNT renew Dark Blue after Season 2. She also talks a little bit about her back injury from this spring and how she got it, and hints at shooting a couple of new indie films this fall. It’s a really interesting and informational read! Full article under the cut.
Question: How did you get your role in Dark Blue?
Tricia Helfer: I got involved through the normal audition process. It was pilot season in Los Angeles and I auditioned for the show and was offered it after auditioning. So I didn’t have a script to work off of. There was just four pages written for the audition. So after I was offered the role, then I spoke with the producers and writers about what they saw for the character for the season and I liked what they had to say and they held up their end of the bargain.
They definitely said she was going to be involved with the team and be a smart, fun, strong character and not just the FBI finger-pointer or that kind of thing.
Question: What drew you to this particular character?
Tricia Helfer: I’ve always had a desire to play a cop or FBI agent. I’m a bit of a tomboy so it’s fun and I think there’s a lot of challenges — emotionally and mentally — playing a role like that and trying to get into the character. This role is fun because there’s also going to be some undercover roles — so roles within the roles so to speak — which as an actor are a lot of fun to play. And then of course just the team that’s behind it — the Bruckheimer camp and Warner Horizon and TNT it’s a great group of people and companies to work with.
TV Guide reports Tricia Helfer will be donning her voice to an as-of-yet unannounced character on Cartoon Network’s Scooby Doo! Mystery Inc, a reboot of the old cartoon series. No word yet on whether her character will be recurring or a guest role. From TV Guide:
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc 7/6c Cartoon Network
Scooby-Doo, where are you? A hip reboot of the 40-year-old cartoon franchise puts the meddling kids and their—talking!—canine pal Scoob in Crystal Cove, the most-haunted town in the world, where they solve mysteries much to the chagrin of everyone else who lives there. Among the celebs who lend their voices to the series (either as guest stars or recurring characters) are: Patrick Warburton, Gary Cole, Linda Cardellini, George Segal, Ben McKenzie, Tricia Helfer, Tia Carrere, Julie Bowen, science fiction writer Harlan Ellison and—for those who know their Scooby history—Vincent Van Ghoul.
Some small, but exciting event news and goodies today!
To begin with, according to Tricia Helfer’s official site, Tricia will be attending the 3rd Annual Fur Ball at the SkirballKitten Rescue fundraiser Saturday, September 11 2010 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. The event will once again be hosted by The Office-star Jenna Fischer. Tickets are $125 apiece ($1250 for an Angel Table with seating for 10); details and ticket purchases are available via KittenRescue.org. Be sure to book your seat, if you’re able to attend. Speaking of events and good causes, a couple of days ago on July 15, Tricia attended the BTC and Artists & Athletes Alliance-hosted Evening with Philippe Cousteau in Beverly Hills, CA, a briefing on the ongoing BP oil spill catastrophe on the Gulf Coast. Battlestar Galactica‘s Edward James Olmos was also among the attendants. According to Tricia’s official site, she and Battlestar Galactica co-star Katee Sackhoff are working on an oil spill fundraiser; additional details should be coming soon. If you’re interested in the Cousteau event and want to learn more about the subject, there’s a great and informative report on it at ServiceNation.org.

First, we have a couple of gorgeous new (if medium-res) promotional photos as well as the first medium-res episodic stills of Tricia Helfer on the show as FBI Agent Alex Rice. The new stills are from episode 2.02 “Liar’s Poker”, which looks to be the second hour of the August 4 two-hour season premiere. As always, we’ll be on the lookout for better-res versions of these, but in the mean time check them out anyway.
Then for two great behind-the-scenes video clips from the Dark Blue website. This first one is a Season 2 character overview, in which Tricia’s Alex is also covered. Her segment, featuring a quick interview as well as some great clips from her first scenes on the show, comes in at 2:25, but the most sharp-eyed ones will also catch glimpses of her in the early seconds also.
