Tricia Helfer appeared on the red carpet at the War Horse Opening Night in Toronto, Canada yesterday. So far we’ve only managed to find two pictures of her at the event, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more.

Tricia is currently in Toronto to film new episodes for The Firm.

Update Mar 3: Two new clips from the event! The first clip cannot be embedded here, so please head over to www.theglobeandmail.com to watch it – Tricia comes in at about 1:17 – but here’s another courtesy of Mirvish Productions (Tricia appears briefly at about 0:51):

Hope everyone was able to tune in to The Firm on NBC yesterday, the second episode in the show’s new timeslot. Here’s our summary of the episode, 1.08 “Chapter Eight”, beginning with a quick recap:

Cleared of all murder charges thanks to unexpected help from Andrew (Shaun Majumder), Mitch (Josh Lucas) is back in court to represent Richard, who is fighting his former girlfriend Cynthia (Kate Vernon) for the rights to his research into a promising new Alzheimer’s drug, which Cynthia wants for her own pharmaceutical company. But when Mitch goes out of his way to protect his client’s rights the results take everyone by surprise, not the least Mitch himself. At the same time, the McDeeres and Tammy (Juliette Lewis) continue to work on the Sarah Holt case and unlocking Moxon’s clue, but when Mitch visits Sarah (Alex Paxton-Beesley) in jail to confront her about her lies she completely shuts him down. Elsewhere, Andrew confronts Alex about being kept in the dark and the threat to Mitch’s life, while she and Noble Insurance’s senior VP Kevin Stack (Martin Donovan) try to explain away the incident at Parkview Hotel. In a new flash forward, a frantic Andrew calls Mitch at his home in the middle of the night and orders him to get out as a group of operatives approach his house.

This episode is really my new favorite of the season so far, and Tricia’s meatiest episode since the pilot. She had a couple of absolutely great scenes in this episode, particularly one with Shaun Majumder’s Andrew, and delivered brilliantly. Was pleased to see more Martin Donovan this week as well, the episode was really energetic all around and it was great seeing BSG Kate Vernon appear on the show (even though she sadly did not share a scene with either Tricia or Callum Keith Rennie). 104 HD screen captures of Tricia on the show have been uploaded to the gallery.

As always, don’t forget to support Tricia and check out the show again next week! Help the show make its new Saturday night slot its own. :)

PS. We are aware that Canadian Global TV is currently two episodes ahead of NBC, however in order to support the show and not spoil American fans we will be following the NBC schedule until further notice. :)

Following in the footsteps of NBC, Canadian Global TV is moving The Firm to Saturdays from its current Thursday night timeslot. The channel is currently two episodes ahead of NBC, but will be letting the U.S. catch up with their speed when the next new episode, 1.10 “Chapter Ten”, doesn’t air until March 10, the same as on NBC.

Although The Firm has been faring better in the ratings in Canada than in the U.S., probably thanks to its Canadian stars Tricia Helfer, Molly Parker and Shaun Majumder, we can’t get away from the fact that this is another bad omen for the future of the show. :(

The Firm will be replaced on Thursdays by the new series Awake, which recently took over for the show on NBC as well.

Surprise! The gallery has been updated today with 161 site-exclusive screen captures of Tricia Helfer as Miranda in director Jonathan Sobol’s 2010 feature film debut A Beginner’s Guide to Endings. Unfortunately, the caps are only medium-res as the film has so far been released on DVD only in a select few European countries, but as soon as we get our hands on it we’ll replace them of course.

As for the film, I personally hugely enjoyed it. It’s the best film Tricia has done since Walk All Over Me, and one of her best ever performances as well — I thought she really nailed Miranda’s childlike but dangerous mischievousness, while the film itself is nothing short of hilarious. :D Absolutely worth checking out if you can!

But without further ado, hope you like the caps! (Warning: Caps 157-161 contain spoilers as to the outcome of the film.)

“Can you tighten up on Moxon? Make sure he knows what happens if he talks, but I am not okay with this getting messy.”
- Alex Clark

Hope everyone was able to tune in to The Firm on NBC yesterday, the first new episode in nearly three weeks. If you weren’t, you can now catch the episode online on NBC.com. Here’s our summary of the episode, 1.07 “Chapter Seven”, beginning with a quick recap:

Mitch (Josh Lucas) takes the case of Nate (Andrew Jenkins), an overly insecure teenager accused of armed robbery and murder, but when Nate’s brother is named as co-defendant Mitch must convince both his client and the district attorney that Nate should be a witness for the prosecution in a twisted race against the defense of the brother for a plea bargain. Inspired by her daughter’s school project, Abby (Molly Parker) wants to get in touch with her estranged parents. Tammy (Juliette Lewis) turns up the heat on Martin Moxon (Stuart Hughes) to get him to explain his cryptic clue, but the hotel meeting she manages to arrange between him and Mitch goes horribly wrong before Moxon is allowed to explain himself. Noble Insurance’s Kevin Stack (Martin Donovan) presses Alex to do something about Mitch. The flashbacks catch up with the present and Mitch is detained as a suspect in Moxon’s “murder”.

Once again, Tricia was barely at all in this episode, but it was still a good one. The legal case of the week was interesting and suitably complicated, the guest actors were good and I’m particularly starting to take a liking to the quiet ominous presence of Noble’s Kevin Stack, as portrayed by Martin Donovan, and his interaction with Tricia’s Alex — really hope to see more of both this season. :) Also, Juliette Lewis really shone in this episode, I thought — I laughed so hard at, “I know, stalking you is totally cutting into my sex life.” :D 11x 720p screen caps of Tricia’s appearance in the episode have been uploaded to our gallery.

As always, don’t forget to support Tricia and check out the show again next week! We won’t spoil the episode for you, but we have seen it, it’s really good(!), and as an added treat Battlestar Galactica‘s Kate Vernon is guest-starring!! :D Do not miss.

(PS. If you’re wondering what happened to our recap of the previous episode, 1.06 “Chapter Six”, we chose not to recap it as Tricia did not appear in it after all, despite previous reports. Sorry!)
