Canadian actress and former model Tricia Helfer is one of Hollywood's rising acting talents, best known for her portrayal of humanoid Cylon Number Six on Syfy's critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica. More recently, Helfer has starred in e.g. Andrew Paquin’s Open House and can currently be seen as Alex Clark on NBC's The Firm. Helfer is also an active benefactor of animal and environmental causes.

Great new interview with Tricia Helfer from Marvel.com in which Tricia talks about voicing Black Cat in the cartoon series The Spectacular Spider-Man and the Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video game, interacting with her fans, philanthropy and more. Full article under the cut.
The Marvel Life: Tricia Helfer
We chatted with the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ star about voicing Black Cat, geeking out over ‘Game of Thrones’, cats and more!
By Blake Garris
Actress and former model Tricia Helfer may be best known for playing Number Six on Battlestar Galactica as well as numerous cameos on hit shows, but when she’s not acting she spends her time doing charity work rescuing cats in need.
So it’s no surprise that she was the choice to play the voice of Black Cat in the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series as well as the Spider-Man: Web of Shadows video game. We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Ms. Helfer to talk about all these topics, her new show on NBC, and how she may have been a little too seductive as a voice in a children’s cartoon.
Marvel.com: You’ve voiced Black Cat in a few Spider-Man projects. What was that like?
Tricia Helfer: Yes, I was the voice of Black Cat in Spectacular Spider-Man and also in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, the video game. It was great.
Actually I have a little funny story about Spectacular Spider-Man. I’ve done two episodes and the first time I did it, it was sort of right around the time that I did the video game. And I don’t know how I missed this note that it was a morning kid’s show, but I guess I’d been doing some video games and a lot of the [Black Cat] lines were very suggestive in their own way — as Black Cat can be. And I was making her very purrish and sexy, but nobody said anything!
And then I read an article that came up about it when it premiered and it said something about Tricia Helfer and her Black Cat turning a lot of 10-year-old boys into puberty. And I went, “It’s a cartoon! Oh my gosh!” So I went back and when I did the second episode I told the producers, I was like, “I was being a little sexier than I would have if I had known it was for kids.” But they had a good laugh over that.
We’ve finally managed to update the gallery today with the first picture of Tricia Helfer at the 4th Annual Kitten Rescue Fur Ball on October 16. Unfortunately, pictures from the event are still proving hard to find, but we’ll keep looking.
Just a quick heads-up that we’ve updated the gallery with two medium-res photos of Tricia Helfer at Kimberly Ovitz’s ASPCA Benefit on Wednesday. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to find any pictures from last weekend’s Kitten Rescue Fur Ball, but we’ll keep looking. :)
Don’t forget Tricia Helfer will be attending the Kitten Rescue Fur Ball at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA tomorrow, October 15. Tickets to the event could still be available, so don’t miss out on this prime opportunity to meet Tricia and get your tix now via www.kittenrescue.org! All proceeds from the event will go to Kitten Rescue.
Kitten Rescue is once again organizing its annual Fur Ball benefit this year on October 16 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, CA. We asked Tricia on Twitter whether or not she was planning to attend, and she kindly responded to us as follows:
@triciahelferfan@KittenRescue As long as filming doesn’t pull me away, I’ll be at #TheFurBall and it’s at The House of Blues this year!! (Sep 14)
The Fur Ball at the House of Blues will feature celebrity guests, cocktails and Hors D’Oevres, dinner, live music, a silent auction, raffle and much more! All proceeds of the fundraiser will benefit Kitten Rescue’s programs and the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary. We hope to see you there!
There are two types of tickets available for the Fur Ball: general admission and reserved seating. This event is not a traditional banquet-style fundraiser as we’ve had in the past, and guests will be able to mingle and move around throughout the venue, although there will be plenty of bar and high-table seating available to rest up and have a bite to eat. In addition, there will be a few banquet-style tables set up on the dance floor in front of the main stage; seats at one of these tables will be available on an individual reserved basis or tables may be reserved in their entirety.
General admission tickets are $100 each. Reserved seats are $175 each, or $1600 for an entire table of 10.
Kitten Rescue is one of the largest and most respected animal welfare groups in Los Angeles and one of Tricia’s dearest charities. The annual Fur Ball is therefore a prime opportunity to both meet Tricia (provided her schedule doesn’t get in the way) and contribute to a good cause. Tickets are now available at www.kittenrescue.org.
We’ve finally managed to find the first couple of photos of Tricia Helfer at the Motor City Comic Con Day 2 and Day 3 in Novi, Michigan on the weekend of May 14-15. Apparently, Tricia was under contract not to pose for photographs at the event, which is why pics from it are few and far between, but DrHawkeye @ Flickr nevertheless managed to snap one with her in the con hall — the picture and a couple of others from the con weekend in the gallery.
Just a couple of new things from last weekend’s Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con today. First we have a couple of beautiful new pictures from the panel Q&A, courtesy of Joits @ Flickr. Check them out in the gallery here.
Then some terrific video interviews and clips from the panel:
Tricia’s official site is still looking for new fan questions for Tricia to answer — if you have one, don’t hesitate to send it over to asktricia@triciahelfer.com. Please me mindful that Tricia’s web team moderates all questions before they reach her, and not all questions will be answered. Good luck!
… And we’re back! Some will surely have wondered at the lack of updates here for the past seven days — the long and short of it is that I, personally, has a serious connection malfunction at home which has taken this many days and about as many angry phone calls to my ISP to fix. Needless to say, we have a lot of week-old news to cover in the next few days; we’re sorry we weren’t able to update about them at our usual speed, but we hope you understand it was out of our hands. So let’s just get to the updates, shall we?
Beginning today with Tricia Helfer’s September 11 appearance at the Fur Ball at the Skirball 3rd Annual Kitten Rescue Fundraiser at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. Hosted by The Office-star Jenna Fischer, Tricia was in attendance at the event as scheduled, and was joined there by husband Jonathan Marshall, Battlestar Galactica co-star and best friend Katee Sackhoff, 24-star Mark Derwin, as well as four lucky fans who were the highest bidders at Tricia’s Angel Table eBay ticket auctions. All proceeds from the event and Tricia’s ticket auctions went to the Los Angeles-based animal shelter, Kitten Rescue. First 40 photos of Tricia (& co.) at the event at our gallery!
A video clip from the event’s charity auction, courtesy of Tricia and Katee Sackhoff‘s respective official sites:
Part Deux! Tricia Helfer is auctioning offanother two tickets to Tricia’s table at this year’s Fur Ball at the Skirball Kitten Rescue Fundraiser via eBay! Needless to say, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet and talk to Tricia. The starting bid is again at $200 and you have until September 3 to place yours; that’s in a little less than three days from now (i.e. today’s update). All proceeds from the auction will go to the Los Angeles-based animal shelter, Kitten Rescue.
The 3rd Annual Fur Ball at the Skirball will take place September 11 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. This year’s event will once again be hosted by The Office-star Jenna Fischer. Please do not hesitate to place a bid on the tickets if you think you’ll be able to attend, and support a most worthy cause at the same time!
