Surprise! The gallery has been updated today with 161 site-exclusive screen captures of Tricia Helfer as Miranda in director Jonathan Sobol’s 2010 feature film debut A Beginner’s Guide to Endings. Unfortunately, the caps are only medium-res as the film has so far been released on DVD only in a select few European countries, but as soon as we get our hands on it we’ll replace them of course.

As for the film, I personally hugely enjoyed it. It’s the best film Tricia has done since Walk All Over Me, and one of her best ever performances as well — I thought she really nailed Miranda’s childlike but dangerous mischievousness, while the film itself is nothing short of hilarious. :D Absolutely worth checking out if you can!

But without further ado, hope you like the caps! (Warning: Caps 157-161 contain spoilers as to the outcome of the film.)

Niagara Falls is more than a bit player in this rollicking dark comedy of fathers, sons, and fallout from the past. Bad news comes in cataclysmic waves, starting with word that hard-living, hard-drinking Duke’s bungled suicide has sent his body whirling through the rapids. Duke’s perfidy reaches out from beyond the grave when his three boys Nuts, Cal, and Jacob, a dysfunctional dynasty if ever there was one, discover that they have only a few days to live as a result of the for-hire medical experiment the old man signed them up for as kids. Named Honorable Mention for the Christopher Wetzel Award for Independent Film Comedy.

Not much in the way of news today, but a Toronto Life article from the TIFF A Beginner’s Guide to Endings premiere after party last Friday makes this interesting little mention of Tricia Helfer:

The TIFF party scene was winding down by Friday night, but that didn’t keep the makers of A Beginner’s Guide to Endings from having a blast at their post-screening fête. Held at Urban Amish, a furniture store at the completely torn-up corner of King and Parliament (making it the first east-end movie party we’ve seen this season), the shindig attracted all the stars of the flick. Tricia Helfer, Jason Jones, Paulo Costanzo and Harvey Keitel all showed and, uncharacteristically, stayed. [...] When we spoke with Helfer, we learned she had recently auditioned for a part in the upcoming film A Game of Thrones, a fantasy flick sure to get fan boys from her Battlestar Galactica days excited, but lost the role to Elizabeth Banks. Asked if she’d tried her eponymous TIFF cocktail, the Sweet Tart Tricia, she complained to us, “I just landed and I’m flying back to L.A. tomorrow. I didn’t even get a chance to try my own drink!”

Tribute.ca has a fantastic, great quality video clip of Tricia Helfer at yesterday’s Toronto International Film Festival A Beginner’s Guide to Endings Press Junket in Canada, where Tricia answered a lot of questions regarding the film, her supporting role of Miranda, her co-stars and working with them, and also touched on Battlestar Galactica, Dark Blue, Lie to Me, Two and a Half Men, Phase One (very fleetingly) and Open House. The video unfortunately can’t be embedded here at this point, so please head over to Tribute.ca via the below screen cap to watch it:

Speaking of screen caps, since actual pics from the junket have really been nowhere to be found so far, except for this tweeted picture from Tricia herself, we’ve instead made a batch of pretty sharp-quality Tricia captures of the aforementioned video. As you can see, Tricia looked nothing short of divine at the event in a navy blue, satin one-shoulder David Meister cocktail dress and Swarovksi earrings. Be sure to check out the pics!
