Looks like things are finally moving forward with Eric Wostenberg’s medical research thriller Bloodwork (previously Phase One), which recently landed a distribution deal with Lightning Entertainment. Check out this newly revealed first poster for the film in hi-res in our gallery. Tricia Helfer portrays Dr. Wilcox.
MovieWeb.com reports Eric Wostenberg’s upcoming thriller Phase One has been renamed to Bloodwork and will be screening at the American Film Market in November. The synopsis from Movie Web:
Bloodwork (formerly known as Phase One) — Directed by Eric Wostenberg and starring Travis Van Winkle and Tricia Helfer, Bloodwork is a stylish thriller set in a medical research facility, where two college friends take part in a drug trial in order to earn a little extra cash. But as unexpected side effects start to kick in, it becomes clear that no one is safe.
It’s been a long time since we last had anything on Eric Wostenberg’s upcoming thriller Phase One, in which Tricia Helfer stars as Dr. Wilcox opposite Travis Van Winkle, John Bregar, Eric Roberts and Mircea Monroe, however we finally have some news, and some great news at that!
According to The Sudbury Star’s recent interview with producer Brandon Nutt about the making of the film, Phase One has landed a DVD distribution deal with Lightning Entertainment. Although an exact release date remains to be announced, the film will be premiering tonight at the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival. The plot synopsis:
Best friends Greg (Van Winkle) and Rob (Bregar), college roommates, decide to earn a little extra cash by participating in a two-week pharmaceutical test over the Christmas holidays. Locked into a remote hospital facility far out in the isolated countryside, they find themselves part of a bizarre series of tests. But as order and control start to break down, it becomes clear that drugs are having increasingly dangerous side effects, and that no one involved in the test will be safe for long.
We also managed to find the first trailer for the film, which happily features a good deal of Tricia. Check it out below:
Really happy to see things are finally moving forward with the film! Stay tuned for updates.
Tribute.ca has a fantastic, great quality video clip of Tricia Helfer at yesterday’sToronto International Film Festival A Beginner’s Guide to Endings Press Junket in Canada, where Tricia answered a lot of questions regarding the film, her supporting role of Miranda, her co-stars and working with them, and also touched on Battlestar Galactica, Dark Blue, Lie to Me, Two and a Half Men, Phase One (very fleetingly) and Open House. The video unfortunately can’t be embedded here at this point, so please head over to Tribute.ca via the below screen cap to watch it:
Speaking of screen caps, since actual pics from the junket have really been nowhere to be found so far, except for this tweeted picture from Tricia herself, we’ve instead made a batch of pretty sharp-quality Tricia captures of the aforementioned video. As you can see, Tricia looked nothing short of divine at the event in a navy blue, satin one-shoulder David Meister cocktail dress and Swarovksi earrings. Be sure to check out the pics!
Check out this first trailer from the Internet Movie Database for writer-director Jonathan Sobol’s feature film debut, A Beginner’s Guide to Endings, in which Tricia Helfer stars opposite Harvey Keitel, Scott Caan, J.K. Simmons and Paulo Costanzo. Although the trailer focuses mainly on the key characters, Tricia is featured in a couple of shots — the first look we’ve had at her in her as-of-yet untitled role.
Unfortunately, the video can’t be embedded here at this point, so please head over to the Internet Movie Database to watch it. A couple of screen captures of Tricia’s shots have also been uploaded to the gallery — big thanks to Roberta @ Kate Winslet Fan for her help with these.
In related news, another one of Tricia’s upcoming films, Phase One, which was announced as far back as in November 2009, has at last gotten an Internet Movie Database-page. Although the page doesn’t provide us with a lot of information that we didn’t already know, Tricia’s character does now have a name – “Dr. Wilcox”.
Neither film has yet to our knowledge an exact release date.
Last week, we reported Tricia Helfer is currently in Canada filming another role for a new movie, Phase One, as confirmed by Tricia’s official site. Although little additional information on the project was available at the time, we now have some additional details on the film, thanks to this article from Sudbury Local News.
According to the source, Phase One is an indie thriller directed by Eric Wostenberg about drug testing on humans, and co-stars Eric Roberts, Travis Van Winkle and Tamara Feldman. Filming is currently ongoing in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. More from Sudbury Local News:
Phase One, a Hollywood production being filmed at various locations around Sudbury, could be the first of many other movies that could provide jobs, support local business and give the city a creative edge. [...]
The film — a thriller about a human drug test gone awry — is being shot by Sudbury native, Brandon Nutt. His company, Nutthouse Moving Pictures Company, will receive the funding through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC). The announcement was made at the Cambrian Arena, one of the locations which is being used for filming the movie. [...]
Phase One producers include Chris Chesser (The Rundown, Major League), Karen Glasser (The Rundown, The Ten Commandments) and David Ward. Actors, direct from Hollywood, include Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galatica), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Tamara Feldman (Gossip Girl) and Travis Van Winkle (Transformers, Friday the 13th). Eric Wostenberg is directing the movie. [...]
Filming has already taken place at the Willet Green Miller Centre on Ramsey Lake Road. Sudbury doubles as Colorado in the film. [...] Hollywood actor Travis Van Winkle, 27, originally from Atlanta, Ga., was on set in the Willet Green Miller Centre building. The actor plays Greg, a university student. He said he enjoyed working on this independent Hollywood film. “Independents are less tightly run. They are more fun.” He said times are tougher in Hollywood now, but there is work to be found in independent films, like Phase One.
As of yet, the film lacks a page on the Internet Movie Database-website, however we’ll keep you posted if and when one appears on the site.
Tricia Helfer’s official site reports Tricia has wrapped filming for Jonathan Sobol’s A Beginner’s Guide to Endings in Niagara Falls, NY, and is now filming a new movie — Phase One — in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Although the Internet Movie Database has nothing on the project yet, according to Tricia’s official site, Phase One will also star Eric Roberts and Travis Van Winkle. We’ll be sure to post an update on the movie(?) once we have more details!
