We’ve finally managed to find the first couple of photos of Tricia Helfer at the Motor City Comic Con Day 2 and Day 3 in Novi, Michigan on the weekend of May 14-15. Apparently, Tricia was under contract not to pose for photographs at the event, which is why pics from it are few and far between, but DrHawkeye @ Flickr nevertheless managed to snap one with her in the con hall — the picture and a couple of others from the con weekend in the gallery.
In other event news, the gallery has also been recently updated with a pic of Tricia at the Best Friends Animal Society Pet Super Adoption event last Saturday, two photos of Tricia and her 17th Precinct and The Whole Truth co-star Eamonn Walker at the 2011 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in April and another two pics, these from Tricia’s “Ask Tricia” Q&A Taping Session last month. Have a look!

Oh no. According to several entertainment newsblogs, it looks like Ronald D. Moore’s 17th Precinct is currently not a strong candidate for a series. Report from 17thPrecinctPodcast.com:
io9.com, UGO.com and Deadline.com are all reporting that early talk is that 17th Precinct chances of being picked-up by NBC are not looking very good. NBC upfronts are May 16, so the truth will be revealed soon, and we will report the news as soon as it is available.
Currently, io9.com is reporting “Ron Moore’s next TV series cast a bunch of Battlestar Galactica alums, and added a dash of urban fantasy! Its about detectives solving magical crimes, what’s not to love? Apparently, a lot. Sadly Deadline says the series just doesn’t look good. But our collection of set pics begs to differ.” Read More
UGO.com is reporting “Ron Moore’s comeback vehicle 17th Precinct is also facing hard times, as despite the inclusion of so many former Battlestar Galactica alum, NBC’s other magical pilot Grimm reportedly has better chances.” Read More
Deadline.com is reporting “Of the 2 magical pilots, 17th Precinct and Grimm, Grimm appears stronger, while 17th Precinct doesn’t look good.” Read More
Forget Grimm, NBC! Pick up 17th Precinct!
Update May 13: According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has just picked up Grimm for a series. This confirms that 17th Precinct is likely out. :(

A terrific update on 17th Precinct today!
First we have these two new photos of Tricia Helfer and her former Battlestar Galactica co-stars James Callis and Jamie Bamber on the set of the upcoming NBC pilot in Vancouver, Canada, via Tricia Helfer’s official Twitter account @trutriciahelfer and YVR Shoots. If you’re in Vancouver and would like to know where the pilot is currently being filmed, please follow YVR Shoots on Twitter for almost daily updates.
There’s also some casting news: According to several news sources, actors Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Stockard Channing (The West Wing) and Matt Long (Jack & Bobby, Mad Men) have joined the already confirmed cast of Tricia, Callis, Bamber and Eamonn Walker (The Whole Truth). While Channing will probably be a series regular, Kreuk will likely have a recurring guest role on the show — all this provided NBC picks up the pilot, of course. No word yet on what kind of a role Long has been cast in.
Finally, if you want to know more about 17th Precinct and related developments, a Twitter account and Facebook page have recently surfaced for the pilot. No word on whether or not either have any official affiliation with the production, but they could be worth bookmarking for the future nonetheless.
17th Precinct is a new drama that follows a police unit in the fictional town of Exelsior, part of a world ruled by magic. The ensemble has been created by film and TV veteran Ronald D. Moore, the creative genius behind the 2003 reboot of Battlestar Galactica. The show will be directed by filmmaker Michael Rymer, also known for his work on Battlestar Galactica.

Wow! According to Deadline.com’s exclusive report, Tricia Helfer has joined her former Battlestar Galactica co-stars James Callis and Jamie Bamber in series’ creator Ronald D. Moore’s upcoming sci-fi pilot for NBC, 17th Precinct. Details from the source:
The more, the merrier. Battlestar Galactica developer/ executive producer Ron Moore has tapped a third co-star from the hit Syfy series, Tricia Helfer, to join his new sci-fi project, NBC’s pilot 17th Precinct. The Sony TV-produced drama is set in the fictional town of Excelsior where magic and supernatural elements rule over science and revolves around the cops at the local 17th Precinct. Helfer will play Morgana, a necromancer, the magical equivalent of a coroner, who is an expert at manipulating the potions, tools, herbs and spells of her trade.
In the pilot, Helfer joins fellow Battlestar alumni James Callis and Jamie Bamber.
I mean to say… wow!! Congratulations, Tricia! Hopefully, the pilot will get to see the light of day — and soon!
Update Mar 7: According to Tricia via her official Twitter account @trutriciahelfer, filming for 17th Precinct has begun — and Tricia is a brunette!
First day on 17th today. Guess what, I’m a brunette now! (Mar 7)
The pilot is reportedly being filmed in Vancouver, Canada.
Update 2 Mar 7: First pic from the Vancouver set via Tricia’s Twitter. The new look is frakkin’ fantastic!
