Canadian actress and former model Tricia Helfer is one of Hollywood's rising acting talents, best known for her portrayal of humanoid Cylon Number Six on Syfy's critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica. More recently, Helfer has starred in e.g. Andrew Paquin’s Open House and can currently be seen as Alex Clark on NBC's The Firm. Helfer is also an active benefactor of animal and environmental causes.

While we wait for more news on Tricia, we thought we’d update the gallery with some pictures we’ve been sitting on. Today we’ve updated the gallery with MQ but rare promotional stills from Battlestar Galactica Season 2 as well as some very hard-to-find images of Tricia on the runway ca. 1995-1998. As you may have noticed, we have in fact been steadily uploading pics from both Tricia’s modeling years and BSG throughout the fall.)
Speaking of updates, we’ve also updated the site with a filmography page for Mistletoe Over Manhattan. Don’t forget the film premieres November 6th on Hallmark!
New “Ask Tricia” video from Tricia Helfer via her official site TriciaHelfer.com. In this video, Tricia talks about how she prepared for the role of “Head Six” on Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica, playing the “good girl” versus the “bad girl” and how her farmer background influences her everyday life. Tricia regularly answers fan questions online via her “Ask Tricia” video series. If you have a question for Tricia, don’t hesitate to send it over to asktricia@triciahelfer.com. Please me mindful that Tricia’s web team moderates all questions before they reach her, and not all questions will be answered. Good luck!
Just a couple of new things from last weekend’s Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con today. First we have a couple of beautiful new pictures from the panel Q&A, courtesy of Joits @ Flickr. Check them out in the gallery here.
Then some terrific video interviews and clips from the panel:
Just a quick heads-up that we’ve updated the gallery today with 387 720p screen captures of Tricia Helfer as Number Six in the critically acclaimed 2003 Battlestar Galactica miniseries. The film quality being what it is, the caps aren’t as sharp as one might expect, but they’re still better quality than our previous caps (which were also about 250 more in number — we tried to cap sparingly this time). Hope you enjoy!

In other site updates, we just wanted to let you know that we’re currently revising the contents of all Tricia Helfer Fan; adding and updating information, proofreading for spelling mistakes, broken links and factual errors, and making some minor structural changes to the site. Since taking the entire site offline would be rather boring both for you guys and us, we’ve decided to do as much of this as possible online, which means we now have up a mix of “old” and updated pages. All info pages now have a “last updated-date,” however, so you can tell when a page has last been changed.
Another “Ask Tricia” V-Blog video from Tricia Helfer! In this one, Tricia talks about some of her favorite, “brag-worthy” aspects about Canada, the tragic Number Six copy Gina from Battlestar Galactica Season 2 and how she prepared for the role, attending her first ever motorcycling convention in Milwaukee and how she fell in love with her current bike, the Harley-Davidson 2009 Rocker C. Another fresh interview! Check out this interesting article and interview with Tricia Helfer from The New York Post, in which Tricia talks about her past and future work on television, specifically Battlestar Galactica and Dark Blue. It’s a very fun, laid-back and surprisingly informational read, offering a lot of new insight especially into her new Dark Blue character, FBI Agent Alex Rice, and the future of Battlestar Galactica. Full article under the cut.
There are no downsides to playing a character so iconic even their repeating red dress becomes recognizable. There are no downsides, that is, until the series ends. Yet Tricia Helfer has never been boxed in by her Battlestar Galactica‘s Six — continually finding work on the small screen since that historic series wrapped last year.
Chalk it up to her chameleon-like abilities to seamlessly embody a wide berth of characters or the fact she looks little like her robo-vixen without that bleach blonde bouffant, there’s no denying that Tricia has made the most of her character’s iconic status.
Now, for the first time since Battlestar Galactica, she’s sticking with one show: TNT’s Dark Blue. The introduction of Tricia’s character — F.B.I. Agent Alex Rice — also marks a turning point for the series that took mood cues from its title in season one. A slight lightening up is a welcome change, as is the promise of romance for Dylan McDermott’s Lt. Carter Shaw. That’s just one of the plotlines she teased after ringing up PopWrap. Tricia also revealed why her first week on set was so odd, what her live TV survival kit includes and if she ever plans to slip back into Six’s red dress.
“So you used peroxide, needle-nosed pliers, and they dyed your hair every ten days. You and I have just met, but I wanna make you an Honorary Latina… Número Seis, welcome to the club.”
- George Lopez, to Tricia on Number Six’s platinum blonde hair
Hope you were able to tune in last night to Tricia Helfer looking absolutely stunning on the TBS late night talk show, Lopez Tonight, as hosted by George Lopez. On the show, Tricia talked about among other things Battlestar Galactica‘s Number Six, her recent back injury and surgery (and how someone dropped a suitcase on her head on an airplane), Dark Blue and traveling around the world as a model. She also mentions that she is, in fact, a vegetarian (except for the occasional fish)!
If you happened to miss Tricia’s great segment or were unable to tune in, here is the video embedded for your viewing. You can also check it out in fabulous 720p HD on YouTube:
Update: 264 720p HD screen caps of Tricia’s appearance on the show at our gallery!
Have a look at this great Examiner.com interview with Tricia Helfer from the April Tribeca Film Festival, in which she talks about her most recent onscreen work, including Open House, Dark Blue and A Beginner’s Guide to Endings, and how e.g. Battlestar Galactica has influenced her as an actress. Full article under the cut.
A perfect word to describe Canadian-born actress Tricia Helfer would be ‘versatile’. For looking at the roles she has played, versatile is what’s seen in Helfer’s acting range. Most known for her character in the Battlestar Galatica series, Helfer has played a variety of characters, including portraying the late Farrah Fawcett in the 2004 NBC television film Behind the Camera :The Unauthorized Story of ‘Charlie’s Angels’. The former model has recently joined the cast of Dark Blue for their second season. The way Helfer describes her eclectic new role in the TNT drama once again presents her versatile talent as an actress. She recently discussed with me the fun she’s having with the part, as well as her thoughts on her leading role in the new thriller Open House, which brought her to this year’s Tribeca Film Festival for its premiere.
You’re currently at the Tribeca Film Festival for the premiere of your new film Open House. How is the Film Festival? Is this your first time there?
Tricia – It’s my first time at the festival so it’s quite exciting. The premiere was last night and I think it went over pretty well. I’m just excited to be here in Tribeca. Really looking forward to seeing what happens with Open House.
What most appealed to you about the part of Lila in Open House?
Tricia – What I liked about Lila, what appealed to me in the script was there was more layer to the character than just being evil, seductive serial killer, kind of one note, icy so to speak. I saw when I read as just a real truth, psychosis, to the character and I wanted to try to portray that. You know you don’t expect her to have vulnerabilities but when she’s by herself you do see some glimpses of vulnerabilities in this narcissistic character.
How did this part challenge you differently from any other parts you’ve played?
Tricia – It was great working with Brian Geraghty, he is the playoff between the two of us. We’re playing siblings and his character kept his emotions in and was very reserved in many ways until he lashed out. And it was a very dominate sort of relationship. So I think one of the challenges was playing with him and finding the right balance of the Lila character, who’s very strong and out there and outspoken. Definitely the dominant. And just her having to react to her brother and how she shows love to him but controlling him.
